      <image:title>Recipe Club - Savory Breaky Bowls</image:title>
<image:caption>One of the core pillars of optimal fertility is balanced blood sugar. Without it our egg quality decreases, ovulation is impaired and hormone production suffers. The best way to start your day and set yourself up for blood sugar success is to consume 30 grams of protein within an hour of waking. This regulates your metabolism and keeps glucose levels more stable throughout the day. As a result of this recommendation, my patients are always asking for more high protein breakfast ideas that are simple and supportive of fertility. This recipe packs a whopping 46 grams of protein and is perfect for the busy woman who doesn’t have a ton of time in the morning as it can be easily meal-prepped for the week. Plus, it is loaded with fertility boosting micronutrients. The broccoli sprouts are optional, but they are my favorite way to add even more liver and gut loving support to practically any meal. The traditional viral cottage cheese bowl is often topped with a hot honey drizzle. As delicious as that may be, you really don’t need it here. Plus, I find honey to have quite an impact on blood sugar levels. If you are optimizing for stable blood sugar in the morning, I would opt for hot sauce instead! I hope you enjoy!</image:caption>

<image:caption>If you’ve been on social media over the last few years, it’s almost guaranteed that you’ve stumbled upon the viral salmon bowl recipe containing salmon, rice, avocado, kewpie mayo, soy sauce etc. As delicious as the original recipe is, it lacks in micronutrients and fiber and is quite high glycemic due to the rice. My version contains more fiber, healthy fats, micronutrients and protein. As a result, the meal is super blood sugar friendly. It also comes together quickly, so it’s perfect for a busy weeknight when you want something delicious, but still are trying to optimize your fertility.</image:caption>

You know that optimizing your health for pregnancy is important, but thinking about where to begin feels overwhelming. What foods should I be eating and how do I make time for this? Well, that’s where I come in! I’ve got you covered with this simple recipe for a set-it-and-forget-it Crockpot Pork Loin. <image:caption>Let me be clear and say I am the first one to be serving traditional cookies (made with all the sugar and refined flour) on Christmas, but what about the weeks leading up to that special day? I want Christmas cookies in my mouth all month long! Unfortunately, when you’re on a TTC journey, eating Christmas cookies on the daily doesn’t support the goal of optimizing your body to bring a healthy bundle of joy into the world. These Snickerdoodle cookies are my response to this conundrum. They are chewy, nicely spiced and delicious. However, since they’re made with almond flour and coconut sugar, they have less of an impact on your blood sugar compared to traditional snickerdoodles. Remember, balanced blood sugar is important for regulating hormone balance and supporting fertility. So, get cozy, put on that Christmas music, light a fire and get baking!</image:caption>

<image:caption>One of my top recommendations for women who are TTC is to start your day with a high protein breakfast, aiming for 20-30 grams of protein, at minimum. This sets your day up for success by reducing cravings, sustaining energy levels and keeping blood sugar stable. However, this recommendation is often met with push back from my patients saying they’re too busy in the morning for a sit-down breakfast and how the heck are the supposed to get that much protein from an on-the-go meal? Well, a serving size — two of these muffins — contains just about 30 grams of protein!! Plus, they’re super easy to whip up on a weekend so you’ll have breakfast ready to go for the workweek. Enjoy!</image:caption>

If you’re anything like me, you probably face the battle of take-out versus cooking at home. I love getting take-out, but often when I look at the menu, I feel that I’d prefer a home-cooked…just one that is ready in record time and that I don’t have to clean up after! Well, if you are a busy woman in your 30’s who is looking for easy week-night staples to optimize your fertility, look no further than this Weeknight Chicken Cutlet recipe made with almond flour for it’s blood sugar balancing effects. <image:title>Recipe Club - Sweet Potato Cake with Maple Cream Cheese Frosting</image:title>
<image:caption>This time of year, there seems to be an abundance of half-rotten sweet potatoes on everyone’s kitchen counter. This cake was inspired by the need to use up a few of those that had been sitting in my fruit basket for far too long… One thing about me, I love sweets. For as long as I can remember, baking has always brought me so much joy. Something about it is so therapeutic, almost meditative. As I’ve gotten older, I still love baking, but my sweet tooth has become less sweet as I am more mindful about how the food I am consuming makes me feel. I realize, unfortunately, sugar just doesn’t make me feel good. But that’s okay, because like other things in life that don’t serve us — alcohol, staying up too late etc. — partaking in these indulgences can still be a very necessary and important part of life. I take this mindset with me around holidays, birthdays and other special occasions. However, on a day-to-day basis, I’d rather eat sweets that don’t make me feel crummy…wouldn’t you? Especially as I prepare my body for pregnancy. This Sweet Potato Cake with Maple Cream Cheese Frosting satisfies my matured sweet tooth in all the right ways. It’s warming, moist, sweet — but not too sweet. Perfect for dessert or a holiday breakfast treat! In regard to fertility boosting benefits, the cake and frosting are completely sweetened with maple syrup. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, maple syrup will still impact blood sugar, but it also contains antioxidants and minerals that make it more nutritious than traditional table sugar. Plus, the entire cake with frosting only has 1/2 cup + 4 tbsp of maple syrup! For comparison, a traditional cake with frosting often has 4-5 cups of sugar, or more. It’s also naturally gluten-free, as it’s made with almond flour. Almond flour is very low in carbohydrates, but higher in healthy fat so it balances out the maple syrup perfectly. This frosting does contain dairy but could easily be made dairy free if you swap the butter and cream cheese for non-dairy options! If you try it, share a photo on Instagram or Substack and be sure to tag me so I can see how it comes out!</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipe Club - White Chicken Chili</image:title>
<image:caption>As much as I love a traditional chili, this White Chicken Chili is a nice way to switch things up — it’s light, creamy, dairy-free and packed with fertility boosting super foods. It also comes together in 30 minutes, so perfect for a week-night meal! The best part? I created this soup with your egg quality in mind. The bone broth is rich in amino acids such as glycine, glutamine and proline. These are essential building blocks of glutathione, the body’s most potent antioxidant. Glutathione helps protect eggs from oxidative damage that accumulates from daily life and the aging process. Bone broth is also rich in protein, which helps to stabilize blood sugar levels, promoting hormone harmony and egg development. This soup also contains kale! A cruciferous powerhouse that supports the liver’s ability to properly detoxify from excess hormones and everyday toxins. Kale is also rich in folate — a vitamin important for embryo development and preventing chromosomal abnormalities. Last, but not least, white beans serve as the starch for this soup. Beans rate low on the glycemic index scale, meaning they tend to raise blood sugar slowly and steadily. Beans are also a great source of resistant starch, which helps promote the growth of anti-inflammatory bacteria in the gut.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipe Club - Cranberry Orange Scones</image:title>
<image:caption>Scones are superior to muffins — unpopular opinion? Something about the dry texture and touch of sweetness pairs so well with a hot cup of tea or coffee. Plus, they can be served for breakfast or dessert, so versatile! When I think of early winter flavors, cranberry orange comes to mind. So, I figured, why not create a gluten-free, blood-sugar friendly version of the classic Cranberry Orange Scone to bring to your Thanksgiving brunch table? The best part, these scones were made with your fertility in mind! The entire recipe (including frosting) calls for only 4 tbsp of honey. They are also made with almond flour, so naturally gluten-free for those ladies who don’t tolerate gluten well. The scones themself are completely dairy free, and the frosting can easily be made dairy-free with non-dairy swaps for the cream cheese and butter. Cranberries are also rich in antioxidants such as quercetin and vitamins C and E. These nutrients help reduce oxidative stress, preserving egg quality and boosting growth of beneficial bacteria in the gut.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipe Club - Roasted Caesar Brussel’s</image:title>
<image:caption>Let’s face it, Thanksgiving isn’t exactly known for its health benefits. And you know what? That is the way it’s supposed to be! Food is so much more than “fuel” — it’s connection, it’s love and it’s art. In fact, it breaks my heart when my patients ask, “is it okay if I indulge around the holidays?” My answer? HECK YES and with zero guilt or feelings (aside from warm and cozy ones) attached! In fact, sharing food around the holidays with your loved ones is so important when on a fertility journey. When you’re struggling with infertility, it can be isolating and cause you to become so zeroed in on the goal that you begin to miss life happening around you. And I don’t blame you for one second! So let this Thanksgiving be a reminder that it’s okay to relax and enjoy food without restriction. One meal, or a few days of eating “less than optimal,” is not going to impact your fertility because the joy these special days bring makes up for any suboptimal nutrition. With that being said, this recipe for Roasted Caesar Brussels is the perfect addition to your Thanksgiving table — with a few fertility bonuses! The Brussels sprouts themselves are part of the cruciferous vegetable group. This family of vegetables is known for its fertility boosting benefits as they have properties that enhance the detoxification systems of the liver. Remember, optimal liver detoxification often equates to balanced hormones and balanced hormones often equate to higher egg quality, stronger ovulation and subsequent higher levels of progesterone. This recipe is also super blood sugar friendly! It’s one Thanksgiving side dish you can count on that won’t spike your blood sugar. Finally, the Caesar dressing contains anchovy paste — an amazing source of omega-3 fatty acids! Before you get grossed out, I promise you cannot taste the anchovies, they just make the dressing super flavorful! These omega-3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation, improve insulin sensitivity, and support healthy egg development</image:caption>

      <image:title>Recipe Club - Turkey Bone Broth</image:title>
<image:caption>Bone broth can be quite expensive when your purchase it at the store. Most people are quite surprised to find out that it’s actually super economical and easy to make at home. It’s one of those recipes you can set and forget. When it’s done, you can use it for some many amazing purposes — soups, stews, cooking grains, thinning sauces etc. You can also swap it for anything that calls for water in savory cooking. The benefits of bone broth? Numerous. Bone broth contains gelatin and collagen, the foundations of the amino acid, glycine. In pregnancy, glycine is needed for the synthesis of fetal DNA and collagen in order to support a developing baby’s bones, connective tissues, organs and skin. Not only does a baby require glycine, but the pregnant mother also relies heavily on glycine so that the body can support the expanding uterus, breasts and stretching skin. In regard to preconception health, when you are in the TTC journey, consuming adequate sources of glycine, such as bone broth, is also extremely important. Glycine is an important building block for body’s most potent antioxidant — glutathione. Glutathione helps the body to detoxify from the chemicals we encounter on a daily basis and reduces oxidative stress on the ovaries. Remember, oxidative stress damages our egg quality and reproductive tissues.</image:caption>
